Sergio has clarified the statements appeared in GQ Italia: "In this moment I am coaching a team which has been European champion twice in a row, thing which I do not think has happened to many other teams. My goal is to win a medal at the next Olympics in London, then I will need a step back to make some reflections related to coaching two teams at the same time (Spain and Olimpia Milan). The decision to leave my position with the Spanish basketball team has not been made at all. What I meant was that the London Games will mark a turning point for analysis and reflection about the compatibility of my double position, but nothing is decided about it. My words may have been misunderstood and when I say that I will take a step back to assess my double post, I'm not excluding or rejecting a job or the other. I mean that I will evaluate the two positions in the sense that we will need a break to perform an assessment of the situation, and it will involve three parts: the president of the Spanish Basketball Federation, to see if they are still happy with my work, my family and myself." |
