Defending Inside Play - Unicaja |
|
1) LOW POST WITHOUT BALL: When defending "PANTS" style, the defense must push outwards, with their feet and arms in front to complicate the pass.
Defending “SHIRT” This is defended from the front, pushing them back to the baseline; with the hand closest to the baseline up to disrupt the pass, and the other touching the attacker’s body.
Here, when #4 defends “SHIRT,” # 5 protects against the possible lob pass.
When #5 defends “SHIRT” style at the post down low and #4 anticipates the elbow post, the help from the lob pass comes from the outside player on the weak side.
With the ball at the elbow post: with a foot and arm in front, not allowing for an attacker to win the inside position.
2)ELBOW POST: We can also do it in two ways: a)"PANTS:” Floating defense, faking and protecting within against cuts and inside passes. We can defend this way, if we want, against a center with a low outside shot percentage.
b)“SHIRT”: Deny all the way from the baseline to the three point line. In general, against centers with a good outside shot or penetration from this area, or at a point in the game when we want to pressure the ball to force an error.
3) LOW POST WITH BALL:
4) "HORNS":
#1 plays one against two, and defends the player to which the ball is passed to on the other side.
