The injustice and the anger

I had shared with Jose his period of anxiety related to his situation in Toronto, which certainly had somehow conditioned him and his performance on the court but I was convinced, I am convinced, that once resolved the issues, although maybe not as desired, this would allow him to go back to being focused and confident on the court, supported without doubt by his talent and his excellent knowledge of the game.

What makes me angry is that he got injured while there was already his substitute ready to go in, in the last action before returning to the bench: a real stroke of bad luck and of course the feeling of how sometimes basketball has been unfair towards Jose.

I remember Calderon at the beginning of the epic of the “Golden Juniors”, the junior national team of the 1980 category. He was a year younger but already an important part of the team that won the Junior World Championship. Unfortunately he could not go to the championship due to injury.
At the time the problem was his ankles, which were since then worked on and reinforced and I don’t think they gave him any more serious problems; unfortunately recently he has suffered repeated leg muscle injuries, even if on different legs, which prevented him from participating among other things to an Olympic final, an European Championship and now a World Championship.

It's just a feeling of frustration, because it is not fair, and it is true that in front of all injustices against which you can do nothing you have to accept and be resigned, but at the same time it fills you with anger for seeing that everything is connected to a wire, that all can change with the difference of a second, a sudden movement, some drops of sweat on the floor.

However, for the moment, the only thing we can do is hoping that Jose will recover as soon as possible, both physically and psychologically, and return on a basketball court to redeem last NBA season, to have fun playing the game, to revive his candidacy for a role in the national team in view of next year’s European Championship.
